SUMMARY:Sloan Wainwright with Rebecca Haviland
DESCRIPTION:Sloan Wainwright: Defying standard categorization\, singer/songwriter Sloan Wainwright\, consistently demonstrates her easy command of a variety of American musical styles — pop\, folk\, jazz and blues — held together by the melodious tone of her rich contralto\, with the end result being a unique and soulful hybrid. \nHer family tree (brother and folk-music luminary Loudon Wainwright\, nephew Rufus Wainwright\, nieces Martha Wainwright and Lucy Wainwright Roche) reads like a who’s who of contemporary folk music. Sloan’s incredible gift is not only her unique songwriting ability but also her dramatically voiced rendition of original songs. \n“She’s folk influenced\, but the real star here is her voice. Warm and smoky and smooth\, it makes her earthy\, ominous lyrics seem all the more intense.” \nWith a solid and impressive discography of 10 original CD releases to her credit\, Sloan continues to write\, sing and perform live and has won two songwriting awards at the annual EmPower Posi Music Awards.  In addition\, Sloan has written numerous musical compositions for theater and dance and teaches at many of the best-known master songwriter series and workshops. \nSloan’s open spirit and first-hand experience is welcome –year after year– in the musical classrooms of such prestigious song camps as Richard Thompson’s Frets and Refrains\, The Swannanoa Gathering\, SummerSongs\, WUMB Radio’s Summer Acoustic Music Week (SAMW)\, Winter Acoustic Music Weekend (WAMW)\, Moab Folk Camp\, Cape Cod Songwriting Retreat and emPower Music & Arts Totally Cool Song School \nRebecca Haviland: Rebecca Haviland and Whiskey Heart is a New York based soulful Americana band. They have been playing together for 6 years and is compiled of veteran session and touring musicians Chris Anderson (Martin Sexton\, Post Modern Jukebox)\, Todd Caldwell (Crosby Still & Nash)\, and Kenny Shaw (Dispatch). After releasing their debut\, self titled record in 2012\, Rebecca and the band recently headed back into the studio to make their second record. Recorded at Atomic Sound in Brooklyn\, NY with producer Don DiLego (Hollis Brown\, Jesse Malin)\, this new set of tunes reflects Rebecca’s experiences on the road\, encompassing American Roots music.

SUMMARY:An Intimate Evening With Rickie Lee Jones
DESCRIPTION:Two-time Grammy winner Rickie Lee Jones exploded onto the pop scene in 1978 and has made a career of fearlessly experimenting with her sound and persona over 15 critically acclaimed albums. A cultural phenomenon\, Rolling Stone magazine put her on its cover twice in two years\, and Saturday Night Live gave her an unprecedented three songs for her second appearance. Rickie is\nboth a character in the songs and the songwriter singing\, defying convention with her sometimes brazen sexuality and the mixed bag of jazz\, rock and what has come to be known as ‘confessional’ songwriter performances. \nHer latest album The Other Side of Desire was written\, recorded and rooted in the city of New Orleans\, where Jones lives on the opposite side of the street made famous by Tennesse Williams. Produced by John Porter (of Roxy Music) and Mark Howard\, this is the first new music Jones has written in over a decade. \n“This work is inspired by many years of sitting with all the events of my life until I had something to paint with\,” says Rickie. “I came to New Orleans to write and to live a different way than what I have known in on the west coast…. Here is another record then\, made of my imagination\, and whatever else that has no words\, using the clay of this place and the shapes of my eyes to form some kind of picture of my life\, or my heart\, that I alone can understand\, and hopefully that others can enjoy.”

SUMMARY:Edwin McCain
DESCRIPTION:Called the “great American romantic” by the New York Times\, Edwin McCain has built an enviable career over the past 20 years by balancing his massive pop success with the year-round touring schedule of a tireless troubadour. His hit songs\, authentic spirit and surprisingly affable sense of humor keep fans coming back time and time again for nights that feel more like parties with old friends than rock concerts. After recording two of the biggest love songs in the history of pop music\, McCain now performs upwards of 100 shows annually throughout the US as a solo artist\, with his full band or his acoustic trio. Recently\, he’s added orchestras to his repertoire\, performing with symphonies in select markets where he brings his powerful songs to majestic new heights. \nThose enduring love songs (and wedding must-haves) “I’ll Be” and “I Could Not Ask For More” aren’t just for the romantic at heart; “American Idol” and “The Voice” contestants turn to Edwin’s ballads every single year to help them win over judges and fans alike (just ask last season’s AI winner\, Nick Fradiani). Even Justin Bieber has been known to belt out “I’ll Be” during his own concerts. \nEarlier this year\, McCain suddenly found himself with a whole new crop of fans when his “Flipping Ships” television show debuted on Animal Planet. “Flipping Ships” took him from the chart tops to the boat shop – his very own Boats Have Souls (www.BoatsHaveSouls.com)\, a restoration outfit dedicated to bringing life back to vessels and customizing them to perfectly fit their new owners. “We started the business to put good boats into good families’ hands by restoring them in ways that might otherwise be financially out of reach\,” Edwin explains. Viewers were fascinated by the blood\, sweat and the occasional tear that he poured into his renovations while rehabbed boats found new life and new owners\, including a few non-profit organizations in his homestate of South Carolina. Just like his songs\, Edwin’s boats all have a story to tell; about the people who built them\, Edwin’s team who defies all odds to reconstruct them\, and the families who take them home. \nBut his heart remains on the road. Once the “Flipping Ships” season ended\, Edwin picked up his guitar once again and returned to the stage. Whenever he can\, he likes to drop by favorite club haunts\, a comfortable return to his early days that delights both his fans and himself. “The 15-year-old me would have crawled through a river of fire to be the 41-year-old singer/songwriter that I am today\, and I remember that. I am incredibly grateful to be able to do this.”
